The Law Offices of Albert Rizzo, P.C. are engaged primarily in the practice of commercial litigation and employment litigation. However, a significant part of our practice is also devoted to a full range of legal services to meet the needs of our clients.
In our litigation practice we represent both plaintiffs and defendants in the New York State courts and in the Federal courts in all phases of litigation from the initial pleading stages to trial, appeal, and judgment enforcement proceedings. At times, however, we counsel our clients away from traditional litigation forums, if, for example, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including mediation and arbitration, would be more cost-effective and provide a more practical resolution.
Because of our successful record and valued professionalism, we are frequently asked to act as litigation counsel to other lawyers and law firms.
Our employment practice concentrates on representing employers and employees in employment discrimination cases involving sexual harassment, hostile work environment, disability and pregnancy discrimination, civil rights violations, and other employment-related actions under Title VII, the Family Medical Leave Act, and the New York State and New York City Human Rights Laws.
We also counsel corporations, partnerships and businesses on a variety of matters involving employer/employee relations, the formation, acquisition and sale of a business, and corporate governance and compliance.
Our real estate practice regularly represents individuals, partnerships and corporations in the purchase, sale and refinancing of residential and commercial properties, office space, residential cooperatives and condominium units. We also represent both owners and tenants in commercial lease negotiations.
Our firm is often retained by a small, but growing, client base of multi national companies desiring to do business in the United States. We counsel such clients on the laws and regulations governing their particular industry, licensing requirements, import/export laws, and the various requirements for doing business in this country. Our clientele is engaged in a variety of different business sectors, which provides us with broad experience in the area of international commercial transactions.
