Our offices are located in the Oscar Hundley house that sits on the corner of Gates and Madison streets in downtown Huntsville, Alabama.  We are within walking distance of the Madison County Courthouse.  The building is a three-story, 10,000 square foot Victorian home that was built by the late attorney, Oscar Hundley in 1900.

The home was the first in Huntsville to have indoor plumbing.  It also was built with colorful stain glass windows throughout the home.  Still today, the stained glass window of a greek mythological woman is one of the most recognizable stained glass windows in Madison County.

1930, the house was sold to a funeral home.  The city later took possession of the home and it was used as a police headquarters starting in 1959.  The city moved out of the building in 1976.

In the winter of 1978, a science-fiction movie starring Ernest Borgnine, Art Carney, and Richard Harris was shot in the Huntsville area.  The film, "The Ravagers,"  shot several scenes inside the Oscar Hundley house.

Despite its rich history, the house began to fall into a state of disrepair.  Many people planned to restore the building to its previous grandeur, but by 1994 it had become one of the ugliest buildings in the Huntsville area.  Doug Fees decided to purchase the home that year in a bid to fulfill his dream of owning a home in which to practice law.

It took four years after purchase to begin the renovations, but once they started the home was renovated in eighteen months.  The house was restored to its previous glory.  Original parquet floors and mahogany beams have been restored as well.  The entire third floor was turned into a legal library with dark wood elegance and a vast wealth of information. 

The Oscar Hundley house is now the home of Douglas J. Fees, P.C., where our clients can come to feel like part of the family.
