What does the $395 cover?
It is flat fee that covers the preparation of all the documents for an uncontested divorce.
How much are the court filing fees?
The court filing fees are $270.
When are these amounts due?
The documents will be prepared for your signature after the $395 is received. Then, after you and your spouse have both signed the documents, they will be filed with the court when the $270 filing fee is received.
So if my spouse won't sign, do I get my money back?
No. So before you hire any attorney you should determine whether your spouse will agree with you.
How long until my divorce with be final?
Approximately four months. After you sign and return the documents along with the $270 court filing fee, then the documents are filed with the court. Then the 90-day waiting period begins. Then after the 90 days, it takes about four weeks to finalize the divorce, depending on the court's caseload at that time.
Will either my spouse or I need to go to court?
No.
Why is the divorce filed in Eastern Washington in Lincoln County?
Filing in Lincoln County costs you less because you don't have to pay for the extra attorney time that is required for the King County Court appearance.
