Costs in Criminal Cases

Most people are concerned about the cost of legal representation when they are facing criminal charges. Without sitting down and discussing your case in depth, it is impossible know how time consuming and complicated your case will be. It is for that reason the cost of your case will be discussed at your free initial consultation. My fees are reasonable given my experience and credentials. Here are some general things to know:

  • Fees are based upon the charges, the stage of the case, the complexity of the case and the amount of work expected in your case.
  • Fees are quoted both on a flat fee and hourly basis depending upon the type of case and the surrounding circumstances.
  • If investigators or experts are necessary the client will be responsible for the cost of these services. Depending on the situation these costs may be encompassed within the fee paid to the attorney. The client will always be consulted before experts or investigators are hired.
  • Payment is due before legal services are rendered. In rare instances clients are permitted short term payment plans.
  • Credit cards are accepted.

All fees and potential costs will be discussed at your free initial consultation. Should you desire to hire me I will provide you with a fee agreement that explains the fees and costs.

Personal Injury

The vast majority of personal injury claims are done on a contingency fee basis. This means that you will not need to pay me unless and until we prevail in your case. Depending on the case my firm charges between 33 1/3% and 40%. This means that my firm will collect this percentage only if we recover money in your case. This arrangement and issues regarding costs in the case will be explained more thoroughly at your free initial consultation.
